Something We Learned this Week

Low Omega 3 can be just a detrimental to longevity as smoking cigarettes. Dr. Rhonda Patrick shared the results of a study that showed inadequate Omega 3 levels are similarly correlated to early morbidity as cigarettes.
This is also interesting because modern health and diet philosophy is mostly focused on reduction and avoiding foods that are harmful. This is one of the first times I’ve heard of deficiencies in a nutrient/essential fatty acid being not just non beneficial but actually harmful.

Recommendation of the Week
In 2022 Shia Labeouf went on Jon Bernthal’s podcast. Really great discussion around Shia’s sexual battery and abuse, his repentance, and his journey to becoming the ideal version of himself.
A lot of the time we search for perfection even when common wisdom tells us that it is an apparition that does exist. But just because perfection isn’t actually attainable doesn’t mean we shouldn’t aspire to it. It's important to acknowledge our human flaws and forgive ourselves when we fall short, yet continuously aim to embody our ideal selves.
One thing I’ve tried to put into practice is “accepting good and making it great”. Pursuing perfection with the expectation of attaining it is futile. I’ve found a much more realistic and self deterministic way of living is to accept (not settle for) something that fulfills most of your criteria and then work to enhance it and make it great.
This could apply to many aspects of life, you career, your relationships, where you decide to live, or where you decide to go to school.
Embracing this mindset offers two significant advantages: it saves time that would otherwise be spent in an endless search for the nonexistent perfect option, and it allows you to personally contribute and improve upon the choices you make which gives you agency in your own outcomes.
Having high standards is commendable, but it's unrealistic to expect the world to deliver them to you. It's up to us to play an active role in ensuring our life choices align with these standards. You can’t always expect life to happen to you, sometimes you gotta make life happen.
