Quote of the Week

“Don’t force anything, anything you force to get you will force to keep”

Sometimes, we overlook the fact that maintaining what we've achieved requires the same effort as attaining it in the first place. All the hard work it takes to get abs, it will take the exact same amount of effort to keep em. It's important to be mindful of where we invest our energy and the level of commitment we're ready to sustain to keep our status.

Something We Learned this Week

Loneliness is just as unhealthy as 15 cigarettes a day.

Interestingly, the upsides of social connection are just as extreme as the downsides, strong friendships is actually directly correlated to financial success and upward mobility.

Monarx Update

Ethan is running his first ultra (200 miles) April 4-7. His training regimen has been insane the past few months and he embodies the work ethic we are trying to create with this brand.

Recommendation of the Week

There are a lot of things I miss about being in school but something unexpected is the structure semesters brought to my life. The calendar was broken up in such a way that it was really easy to set goals, plan, and pivot if life wasn’t going the way I wanted. My environment and social circle would constantly change as moving back and forth between home and school always helped me get a fresh perspective on shit.

Now out of school, there is no new shift in perspective. Life marches on with no built in timeouts. Personally, I really care about being intentional and without some kind of intervention I can fall asleep at the wheel and live on auto-pilot.

Without the convenience of a university schedule, we are responsible for our own structure. A piece of advice a co worker told me is to set up life in seasons, set at your own discretion where at the end you can revaluate your personal and professional life.

Not only does it give dedicated time to for me to think about if I’m still going toward a direction I want to go but it lets me fully commit to my plan for the season. I don’t have to be constantly be distracted by or second guessing whether I’m spending my time wisely.
