Quote of the Week

“This is a common thing I’ve seen among high-agency young people: they get to meet the people who are supposed to be in charge, early on in their lives, and realize ‘Oh they’re just regular people. They seem competent but it doesn’t seem self-evident that they’ve got it handled…I’ve interviewed people where it seems like they haven’t necessarily thought about something as much as I would’ve hoped. Or I’ve gotten to a point where I’ve thought about a specific subtopic more than they have. “

Something We Learned this Week

Refueling in the first 30 mins after a run is critical to getting a head start on the recovery process.

Ideally something light and easily digestible. Think yogurt, fruit, trail mix.

Recommendation of the Week

Growing up is realizing that your parents aren’t superheroes and your role models are not gods.

At first, it’s earth-shattering when you recognize your parents’ limitations or when you see someone you look up to make a brand-damaging mistake.

Today, I met a few folks I really admire in the running and influencer space. As we chopped it up, I had an epiphany: these people are just normal individuals. Behind the big social media personalities and energy are real, authentic people.

The most important takeaway was to keep trying and pursuing what you’re passionate about. The ones who sit at the top aren’t bred in a lab. They’re normal people who aren’t scared to fail and continuously learn and improve. So, stop second-guessing yourself.

“The greatest heroes in life are often just ordinary people who persevere and endure to achieve extraordinary things.”
